As Supply Chain and Logistics companies look to automate and digitalize their warehouses and distribution hub centers, the need for a high-performance, reliable, and secure wireless network becomes an essential part of their connectivity infrastructure. While Wi-Fi has been the default wireless network technology deployed in facilities in the past and does an adequate job for simple use case like bar code scanning from a fixed location, it’s not up to the task in supporting Industry 4.0 mobile applications like automated forklifts and AMRs. This educational session will explain what private LTE and 5G networking is and discuss its advantages over Wi-Fi for industrial environments, including a network TCO comparison.
