The expansion of Fresenius Kabi’s pharmaceutical operations in Wilson, N.C. included the introduction of the aseptic production of IV solutions. IV solutions remain very warm once they are packaged and palletized. A solution was needed to automatically handle and keep track of the products while they cooled down. This presentation describes the challenges associated with this new process and what Fresenius Kabi learned to manage these challenges for the short and long term.
1. The strategies that a leading pharmaceutical company used to automatically handle their finished products in an SAP and GMP compliant environment
2. The lessons from planning and implementing an AS/RS that supports manufacturing and executes the shipment of finished goods
3. The adjustments needed to continue all aspects of the project during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic
