The Business Development Program Manager is responsible to help drive market penetration for existing product lines while also cultivating new market opportunities in support of Plug Power’s R&D efforts. This role will take the lead to engage external stakeholders who should consider Plug Power fuel cell technology to help achieve their business objectives. The Business Development Program Manager must then help steer efforts within Plug Power to meet those needs thereby showcasing the value of Plug Power technology to external decision makers.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of Plug Power technology along with the current and future market applications.
Cultivate relationships with customers and external stakeholders to understand technology needs and communicate the value of Plug Power’s fuel cell systems.
Facilitate opportunities for market penetration with existing customers and new market development with potential customers.
Provide interfacing between customers and Engineering team partners related to Engineering development programs.
Compile customer-facing documents such as presentations and high-level project schedules.
Support R&D efforts including maintaining and tracking engineering program schedules; provide reporting on program schedules to management and customers.
Communicate regularly with internal project team members in order to clarify project expectations and meet commitments to customers.
Help to manage project schedules and resolve problems as necessary to deliver on product and functionality expectations.
Coordinate logistics for prototype part ordering, assembly and testing.
Manage government programs including assembling reports and presentations as needed.
Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
BS degree in business or engineering preferred; will consider other degrees in conjunction with relevant work experience.
5+ years of relevant work experience; must have an engineering or technical background.
Ability to cultivate customer relationships and articulate technological value statement.
Proven track record of generating market expansion opportunities.
Ability to overcome challenges and bring projects successfully to closure.
Must take pride in bringing forth technological solutions for customers to achieve their full satisfaction.
Highly organized and self-directed.
Proficient in Microsoft Project or similar planning software.
Able to manage a multitude of projects simultaneously.
Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
