The MODEX trade show is taking place at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta on 9 – 12 April – and Picavi will be participating for the first time. The provider of the pick-by-vision solution is unravelling the details of its smart glasses to trade visitors on stand #B4881. The company is presenting its product for rapid and error-reducing picking in North America between the important European trade fairs in Stuttgart (LogiMAT) and Hanover (CeMAT).
“The huge amount of interest in our smart glasses, which we encountered when we attended the related ProMat trade show in Chicago last year, is causing us to return to the USA in 2018. Having doubled the size of our stand in comparison with 2017, we’d like to draw the attention of North American companies to our visually directed, hands-free application for their warehouses in an even more focused manner,” says Johanna Bellenberg, Director of Marketing and Communications at Picavi, providing the reasons why the company is attending the event in the federal state of Georgia, where more than 800 companies participate, for the very first time.
The glasses, which are used to increase productivity in the picking process, achieve efficiency gains of up to 40 percent, when compared to other systems. “We’ve been able to incorporate the factors for the success levels achieved in Europe, which are based on their disruptive character, in our first customer projects in North America too. This first picking technology, which enables workers to have their hands free to complete their actual picking work, makes previous procedures in warehouses more flexible by providing visual guidance via the glasses and it makes earlier systems obsolete,” says Johanna Bellenberg.
The trade fair team, which consists of half a dozen contact partners, will also be presenting the new features in the so-called “eco system” related to the smart glasses in conjunction with a partner on the spot, DSA Systems, Inc., which provides the local sector expertise for the USA and Canada. Picavi has developed its own, highly robust cable connection for the Picavi Power Control, which helps to operate the interface of the glasses as a manual control element and supplies it with the necessary power. The user interface itself has been revised too. It guides warehouse employees through their picking orders in an even more targeted manner. As a result, it is no longer necessary to spend time comparing information on a paper list or a hand-held display with the contents on a shelf, as the ‘assisted reality’ in the glasses clearly superimposes this information within the worker’s field of vision at all times.
“The MODEX specialist event gives us an opportunity to introduce the Picavi smart glasses to the logistics sector in Atlanta and representatives of the media at the fair in a process of direct dialogue. The pick-by-vision solution, which can be introduced without any protracted modifications to the warehouse and has already convinced more than 50 customers, helps companies immediately optimise their procedures in warehouse and production logistics,” says Johanna Bellenberg, speaking ahead of Picavi’s presence at the trade show.
About Picavi GmbH
Picavi GmbH is an award-winning and well-recognised full-service provider with a 100 percent dedication of its intralogistics and wearable expertise to Pick-by-Vision solutions. By wearing smart glasses, a strict visual guidance through the complete picking process enables workers to maximize their productivity and minimize errors while working hands-free. Picavi is already being used by numerous logistics experts from a variety of sectors.
The German company is deeply rooted in the IT industry and in intralogistics. Picavi is an official Glass Partner, a Vuzix VIP Partner and connected to many other wearable providers, so the system works independently from the smart glass hardware. Clients worldwide can rely on a network of technology and sales partners such as DSA Systems Inc. in Northern America and WRH Global Australia for the Oceania region. Thanks to the many years of experience gained by DSA in the North American logistics market, Picavi is able to rely on a strong and competent partner, which efficiently implements and uses the pick-by-vision solution.
CEO Dirk Franke has over two decades of experience in the development and sale of software systems for paperless order picking. Alexander Voss, professor of applied informatics in Aachen, supports strategic product development and software quality assurance at Picavi as a consulting shareholder. A wide network of service, integration, technology and sales partners provides additional expertise.
Thanks to its practicality, the pick-by-vision solution was also awarded the IT Innovation Prize in the industry & logistics category by the Initiative Mittelstand association in 2016. In the same year, the IT and logistics specialist was one of three companies to be awarded the "Hidden Champion" prize in the "Vision" category by German news broadcaster n-tv.
