Dubai South (previously ‘Dubai World Central’) is a 145 sq. km purpose-built airport city under development in Dubai. The project is owned by the Dubai Aviation City Corporation, an entity of the Government of Dubai.
Composed of eight integrated districts – many of which host economic free zones – the emirate’s second airport – the Al Maktoum International (IATA: ‘DWC’) - and the venue of Expo 2020.
The key industries at Dubai South are aviation and logistics. Both industries leverage on two unique strengths: the central geographical position Dubai enjoys vis-à-vis the world’s emerging markets, and Dubai South’s multimodal capabilities that enable cargo movement over sea-land-air in record times. Besides aviation and logistics, the city is building a comprehensive economic Free Zone platform, one that supports virtually every type of business and industry. Around 4,200 companies currently operates at Dubai South.
