What You Will Learn

Reusable totes, pallets and bulk containers provide an efficient method to handle, store and move product and materials throughout the supply chain and the cost savings are often easy to identify. Reusables also reduce a company’s environmental impact, in terms of solid waste, energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions. Many leading companies today have sustainability scorecards that measure their environmental impacts of their business. What’s missing is the standardized method to compare single-use and reusable packaging options, measure these impacts and document performance against these metrics. In this session, attendees will learn how Packaging Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) accurately compares and evaluates reusable packaging with single-use packaging, so they can report on their annual environmental savings related to reusables.

Key Takeaways

• Learn how to analyze your system to accurately compare and evaluate reusable and single-use packaging options
• Learn about the factors that are required for an accurate calculations, including shipping distance, packaging type, number of turns, etc.
• Using social media to share reusable packaging successes
• Gain best practices in reporting and measuring the environmental impact of reusable packaging
