Digital Guidelines

Guidelines for Sending Electronic Files
MHIA uses computer-to-plate technology for all printed material. When sending files, please use the following specifications/instructions:

1. Platform:
Macintosh only.

2. Files Accepted:
We ask that you send Press Optimized PDF, high resolution TIFF or high resolution JPEG files only. This Website includes the documentation needed to convert your Adobe InDesign, Quark Xpress, Adobe PageMaker or Macromedia Freehand documents to Press Optimized PDF files.

3. Color:
Send all files in CMYK mode (for Color ads) or Grayscale (for Black and White ads). RGB files must be converted to CMYK. All Pantone colors MUST be converted to process, CMYK.

4. Embedded Images and Logo Listing Files:
MINIMUM resolution requirements: 300dpi for full color artwork or grayscale; 1200dpi for Bitmap (B&W/Line Art). Images and logos from Websites are NOT usable for print ads.

5. Proof:
Color proof MUST be provided to MHIA with ALL 4-color ads; Black and White proof MUST accompany all Black and White ads.

6. NOTE:
Charges for conversion of materials that are not of the specified digital format will be billed to the advertiser.

7. Booth Numbers:
MHIA cannot add your booth number to the ad. if you want a booth number to appear in the ad, it must be included on the digital file you send.

8. Electronic File Transfer: You may submit electronic files 3MB or smaller via email to directory@mhia.org. When submitting files via email, proofs must be shipped to:

9. Storage
MHIA does not keep a copy of electronic files. Advertisers must retain the original file.

10. Deadline:
Deadline for reserving your advertising space is November 18, 2011.
