Supply Chain Gateway to America
MODEX 2012SM will bring both material handling
and the supply chain together in a single international expo. Located at the crossroads of North-South and East-West travel
in North America, Georgia is a natural hub for transporting
manufactured goods quickly by air, ground and ocean from and to the Americas, Europe and Asia.
Over 40% of the buyers of manufacturing, distribution, logistics
and supply chain solutions are within 500 miles of Atlanta.
More than 48 of the largest retailers have warehouse locations
in Georgia, with more than a dozen facilities each exceeding
one million square feet.
Georgia is the home to nearly 11,000 providers of logistics
services from core transportation and facilities to third-party
logistics and software providers. The Port of Savannah is the fourth-largest container port and the
fastest growing container port in the U.S. with 2.6 million TEU
annually.
The Panama Canal Expansion in 2014 to accommodate
12,000-TEU ships will reshape global trade patterns and
be a major supply chain game-changer for the East Coast
of the United States.

Combine that with the cargo congestion on the West Coast, and you have a new gateway to America. In fact,
Jones Lang LaSalle®
anticipates that 25% of imports coming through West Coast ports will be shifted to the East Coast and Gulf ports in
the next decade.
